Wind on scene was a North North Easterly force 2-3 with a Calm sea and Good visibility.
RNLI Brighton Lifeboat was launched to assist the crew of a fishing vessel that had just recovered a man who had jumped, fully clothed from the Brighton Pier.
As the man jumped a member of the public threw one of the Pier's life rings into the water. The three crew of the fishing vessel did not see the casualty jump but noticed the life ring and made way for the area.
Reaching the man they hauled him aboard and made way for Brighton Marina.
RNLI Brighton Lifeboat met them in the entrance to the marina and assisted the casualty with blankets and oxygen until an ambulance arrived.
Hypothermic but alert the casualty was also suffering from neck and back pain, as such he was transferred to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for ongoing care.
Brighton Lifeboat returned to station and was made ready for service.
