Wind on scene was a Northerly force 1-2 with a Calm sea and Fair visibility.
RNLI Brighton Lifeboat was launched to a report of an abandoned, partially inflated tender approximately 5 miles South of Brighton Marina.
The AVON rib, with no oars, engine or distinct markings had been spotted by the skipper of a motor cruiser who was fishing in the area.
Solent Coastguard requested that the lifeboat make an assessment of the scene to determine whether the craft was likely to have been either recently occupied or associated with shipwreck.
Arriving alongside the tender, in liaison with the skipper who found it and Solent Coastguard it was agreed that no grounds for a missing persons search existed. As such the lifeboat recovered the tender and returned to station.
Brighton Lifeboat was cleaned, refueled and made ready for service.
