RNLI Brighton Lifeboat launches into darkness to assist yacht on new owners maiden voyage
The crew of four on board their 32ft sailing yacht requested assistance in the early hours of this morning (1st September 2010).
Solent Coastguard requested that RNLI Brighton Lifeboat launch to the assistance of the stricken yacht, thought to be 2 miles west of Brighton Marina at 0:17hrs this morning.

The volunteer crew quickly made way to the yacht and transferred crewman Bell aboard to assess their situation.

It was confirmed that the four persons on board were safe and well, just unable to start their engine and being new to Brighton, requested assistance entering the harbour.

Making good speed under sail, the lifeboat escorted the yacht until she was at a position just South of the Marina where she was taken under tow.

Once safely alongside a visitors mooring the lifeboat was stood down and made ready for service.
